After high school, Mr. Fred Phan enlisted in the United States Army in 1988 and deployed to northern Iraq to support Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
Mr. Phan attended the University of Minnesota and enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard in 1993. He also volunteers as a reserve officer with the Minneapolis police department.
Mr. Phan joined the Atlanta Police Department in 1997 and patrolled the high-crime Zone 3 precinct. Heat beat covers the state capital and the former Fulton County Braves stadium.
Mr. Phan reenlisted in the United States Army in 2004 and served four combat tours of duty in Afghanistan. In 2019, while serving as a convoy commander, a vehicle-born I.E.D. wounded him in Shajoy, Zabul province, Afghanistan. Mr. Phan was medically retired in 2015.
Mr. Phan was promoted to Sergeant/watch commander with the Jonesboro Police Department. Mr. Phan currently ranks lieutenant with the Clayton County Sheriff's Office. He was the commander of the Sheriff Traffic Unit and a Commander of the Burgary, Auto Theft and Truancy Unit (B.A.T. Unit).
Mr. Phan's security background includes working at special events, sports venues, apartment complexes, construction sites, Walmart loss prevention, and V.I.P. protection.
